Has The Guardian newspaper gone mad or can they see the future?

line

Their headline reads “Twitter switch for Guardian, after 188 years of ink“

I was very surprised to find out that The Guardian newspaper is switching to Twitter.

As an SEO consultant and a professional Internet user, we suggest to our clients to use Twitter to complement their marketing activities. But to switch from an online newspaper to Twitter is preposterous.
Well, judge for yourself. The following is from their website in their own words:

From the archive
Highlights from the Guardian’s Twitterised news archive

1927
OMG first successful transatlantic air flight wow, pretty cool! Boring day
otherwise *sigh*
1940

1961

1989
Berlin Wall falls! Majority view of Twitterers = it’s a historic moment! What do you think??? Have your say
1997
RT@mohammedalfayed: FYI NeilHamilton, Harrods boss offering £££ 4 questions in House of Commons! Check it out

Only time will tell, but I think this will be a monumental mistake that we will all be talking about for years to come.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
